Collaborative partnership
The project builds on the cooperation of six partner organisations (beneficiaries) from three CEE countries with a proven track record of expertise. Every project partner has experience in working together at a European level and has been involved in past European projects and some have collaborated extensively on previous projects and activities. These project partners will collaborate closely to realise the project's overall goals and have specific responsibilities to carry out.
SPR, founded in 1991 in Brno, Czech Republic, is a leading non-profit organisation dedicated to mitigating the effects of addiction and preventing its onset. Over its 30-year history, it has become a significant player in public health and addiction services in the country, actively participating in national policy dialogues. With 250 staff across 50 centres, SPR was responsive during the COVID-19 pandemic by establishing the country's largest testing centre and later vaccination sites with mobile units in partnership with Diocesan Caritas Brno. At a national level, SPR leads the Association of Non-governmental Organisations (ANO), uniting around 26 pivotal organisations in Czech Republic. ANO focuses on providing social services to drug users, the homeless and sex workers. SPR also assisted Ukrainian refugees with health services, including GBV prevention advice.
Civic Association PRIMA was founded in 1998 in response to the needs of people using psychoactive substances in Bratislava. Over almost 30 years of activity, it has grown into a respected organisation providing professional, preventive and low-threshold services to people in difficult life situations. PRIMA focuses on reducing health and social risks (harm reduction), supporting mental health, preventing infectious diseases and protecting human rights. In addition to street social work and its contact centre, PRIMA also offers free psychological counselling for young people, adults, people with experience of using psychoactive substances or non-substance addictions, and their families. A significant part of the organisation's work consists of prevention and educational programmes in primary and secondary schools, addressing psychoactive substances, addictions, mental health and risky behaviour among young people. PRIMA is also actively involved in international initiatives focused on preventing sexual violence, sexual abuse and gender-based violence. Its work is built on the principles of humanity, respect, trust and accessible help for anyone who needs it.
Providing individual and group social work since 2012 in the city of Prešov and across the Prešov SelfGoverning Region for individuals experiencing adverse social circumstances due to exposure to socially risky behaviour associated with the misuse of psychoactive substances, harmful addictive behaviours, and addiction.
It has been working for over 25 years in research, prevention, intervention and policy advocacy on a range of health and social issues, which particularly affect vulnerable groups in all their diversity, adopting a gender-based, feminist and intersectional approach. Its aim has always been to improve people’s quality of life by promoting the health and wellbeing of the community.
FSC's work comprises programmes and services designed to address various issues relating to gender and drug use. Our years of experience in tackling both issues have given us pioneering expertise in the interrelationship between gender and drugs. In this regard, FSC has developed a specific 'Gender & Drugs' line, encompassing various initiatives and services based on this intersection. FSC is a non-profit organisation committed to society, supervised, endorsed and subsidised by various public authorities that have placed their trust in our services for many years.
Kosmicare is a Portuguese NGO dedicated to research, intervention, and the evaluation of programs and policies in the fields of drugs, gender equality, and social justice. Its portfolio includes the design, implementation, and evaluation of prevention programs in school and community settings; harm reduction interventions in nightlife and marginalized contexts; innovative drug-checking approaches; environmental prevention strategies in nightlife settings; and research and intervention projects addressing gender-based violence (GBV) in festivals and nightlife. Kosmicare also contributes to the development of quality standards and gender-responsive approaches to harm reduction.
Kosmicare is widely recognized for its comprehensive, multicomponent interventions in nightlife and festival environments. Its approach integrates environmental prevention, harm reduction, drug checking, Psycare (psychological first aid), and Lilac Care (specialized support for people who experience gender-based violence), providing a coordinated response to the multiple health, social, and safety needs that can emerge in these settings.
The IREFREA network was founded in 1988 with experts from several European countries and it is one of the oldest professional drug networks. The Spanish group has had the scientific leadership of the different research projects since the group’s initiation. The areas covered by IREFREA include alcohol and drug prevention (research, evaluation and programme implementation) covering questions like risk factors, risky behaviours, related violence and programmes efficiency among others. IREFREA members are very active in several professional and scientific arenas, having been invited to collaborate with organizations including the EUDA (formerly EMCDDA), the EC, the UNODC and the PNSD (Spanish National Plan on Drugs) and actively participate in networks such as the EU-SPR and the Civil Society Platform.
